Mustafa Tekin, M.D., FACMG

Dr. Mustafa Tekin is a Professor at the Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation Department of Human Genetics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida and is the Chief of the Clinical and Translational Genetics Division. Dr. Tekin is board certified in Clinical, Biochemical, and Molecular Genetics. Dr.Tekin provides clinical services for children and adults with suspected or diagnosed genetic disorder. He runs an NIH-funded research program on the genetics of hearing loss.

Deborah S. Barbouth, M.D., FACMG, FAAP

Dr. Deborah Barbouth is a Clinical Associate Professor at the Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation Department of Human Genetics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida and Medical Director for Newborn Screening for South Florida. Dr. Barbouth is board certified in Pediatrics, Clinical and Biochemical Genetics. She has specific interests in Fragile X, metabolic disorders including lysosomal storage diseases, genodermatosis and Jewish genetic diseases.

Stephanie Meyer, M.S., RD/N, LD/N, is the Dietitian at the Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation Department of Human Genetics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. Stephanie creates and manages the nutrition programs for children and adults with Inborn Errors of Metabolism and other genetic conditions. She works closely with patients from birth into adulthood to ensure they are receiving optimal nutrition while managing their condition. Stephanie is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian and Nutritionist. She received a Masters of Science in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Florida. Stephanie sees patients at the University of Miami clinics in both Miami and Weston.

Lorrien Ragin-Dames received a certificate of completion from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for Nurses in Genetics. She is a member of the International Society of Nurses in Genetics. She is a clinician and follow up care provider for the State of Florida Newborn Screening Program, and she provides clinical services for the department’s inpatient and outpatient services.

Her primary clinical responsibility is to provide genetic counseling to individuals at risk for hereditary cancer syndromes. She received her Master of Science in Genetic Counseling from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She sees patients in the downtown Miami and Deerfield Beach locations.
