Deborah S. Barbouth, M.D.Dr. Deborah Barbouth is an Assistant Professor and Interim Clinical Director at the Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation Department of Human Genetics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida and Medical Director for Newborn Screening for South Florida. She is also Director of the Victor Program for Jewish Genetic Diseases at the University of Miami. Dr. Barbouth is board certified in Pediatrics, Clinical and Biochemical Genetics. Parul Jayakar, M.D.Dr. Parul Jayakar is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation Department of Human Genetics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. She is also Director of the Department's residency program. Dr. Jayakar is board-certified in Pediatrics, Clinical Genetics, Clinical Cytogenetics, and Clinical Biochemical Genetics. She is a provider for the regional newborn screening program, and cares for infants and children with inborn errors of metabolism. She has special interest and extensive experience in evaluating children with suspected neurogenetic and metabolic disorders. Stephanie J. Sacharow, M.D.Dr. Sacharow is an Assistant Professor at the Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation Department of Human Genetics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. Dr. Sacharow is board-certified in Pediatrics and Clinical Genetics. Dr. Sacharow assists in diagnosis, management, and counseling for children and adults with a wide variety of inherited conditions. Dr. Sacharow enjoys working with children with developmental disabilities and their families. She is a provider for the regional newborn screening program, and cares for infants and children with inborn errors of metabolism. She is also a member of the Cleft Lip and Palate team. Mustafa Tekin, M.D.Dr. Mustafa Tekin is an Associate Professor at the Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation Department of Human Genetics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. Dr. Tekin is board certified in Clinical Genetics. He completed clinical training in Pediatrics and in Clinical Genetics. Dr. Tekin’s main area of interest is the genetics of hearing loss including nonsyndromic deafness as well as a broad variety of special genetic conditions associated with hearing loss such as Usher, Pendred, and branchio-oto-renal syndromes, inner ear anomalies and auditory neuropathy.
