Residency in Medical Genetics
The genetic revolution has resulted in a paradigm shift that is changing contemporary medical practice and requires that we provide educational resources in medical genetics. A fundamental attitudinal change is that both health and disease are produced by the interaction of the individual’s genome and the environment. To address the challenges of the genetic revolution, the Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation Department of Human Genetics offers a two year residency in Medical Genetics leading to certification by the American Board of Medical Genetics (www.abmg.org).
The residency in Medical Genetics is established at Jackson Memorial Hospital, at the University of Miami Hospitals and Clinics as well as Miami Children’s Hospital. The residency is open to medical doctors and doctors of osteopathic medicine who have completed at least 24 months in an Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (www.acgme.org) residency program. For further eligibility information visit the American Board of Medical Genetics website at www.abmg.org.
