Parul Jayakar, M.D.

Dr. Parul Jayakar is a Volunteer Assistant Professor at the Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation Department of Human Genetics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida.  She is also Director of the residency program for the Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation Department of Human Genetics.  Dr. Jayakar is board-certified in Pediatrics, Clinical Genetics, Clinical Cytogenetics, and Clinical Biochemical Genetics. 

Dr. Jayakar received her medical degree from the University of Delhi in Delhi, India.  Her postgraduate clinical training in Pediatrics was at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Mumbai, India. She then completed clinical training and a Fellowship in Medical Genetics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine where she received extra training in clinical cytogenetics and clinical biochemical genetics. 

She has special interest and extensive experience in evaluating children with suspected neurogenetic and metabolic disorders. She collaborates with experts around the world in the diagnosis and research of rare, complex, genetic conditions. Dr. Jayakar has published numerous professional papers, and is a member of several professional societies.
